Screening Products

Social Security Number (SSN) Trace

The SSN Trace associates a given name and SSN number against databases assembled from private sector sources and serves as a location tool to establish jurisdictions to search for public records. AssureHire's SSN Trace uses a private sector databases compiled from hundreds of sources that include credit headers, U.S. Postal Service address forwarding, utility bill records, and voter registration records. The SSN Trace checks the provided Social Security number for names and addresses that have been used in conjunction with a given SSN.

National Criminal Database

National Criminal Database is comprised of millions of criminal records collected from thousands of county and state entities. This information is used to identify additional jurisdictions that the address history wouldn't necessarily locate. All possible records are validated with a primary source county or state criminal search.

Driving Records

Motor Vehicle Record checks are important for any background screen on employees who will drive a company vehicle, chauffeur or operate machinery. DMV records highlight an individuals driving history over the past three to seven years (varies by state) and are available in all 50 states and Washington D.C.

Consent Based Social Security Verification (CBSV)

Processed through the Social Security Administration and with the consent of the SSN holder, CBSV can verify if the SSN holder’s name, date of birth, and SSN match SSA’s records. It will return a match verification of “yes” or “no” or "deceased." The CBSV does not verify an individual’s identity, citizenship, employment eligibility, nor does it interface with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) verification system.

DOJ National Sex Offender Registry

The National Sex Offender Registry is a search of the US Department of Justice Sex Offender Registry. It includes real time listings of registered sex offenders in 49 states (Nevada statutes prohibit the use of information obtained through their sex offender registry in making hiring decisions).

Employment Verification

Our Employment Verification is a primary source verification of previous employment that provides position held, start and end dates and salary although information beyond these areas is generally unavailable. If any additional information is collected during the verification it will be included in the report.

Excluded Party/Terrorist Watchlist/PEP

The Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening program is used to reduce risk and comply with government mandates aimed at fighting money laundering and terrorist financing by accessing hundreds of US and International government watch lists which include OFAC, SAM, FinCEN, FBI Most Wanted, Interpol, OIG, US Department of State and many more.

Federal Criminal Search

A Federal Criminal Records search is often used to supplement the county or state criminal records search and is generally used in screening for senior and executive-level positions. We searches for all 94 federal districts throughout the United States.

Education Verification

All Education Verifications are searched through the primary source, such as the school attended, state GED, or in some cases a third party record holder such as The National Student Clearing House. Reports include dates of attendance, major/minor, year of graduation, and the degree, diploma, or certificate received.

Fraud Abuse Control Information System (FACIS)

The Fraud and Abuse Control Information System (FACIS®) is a multi-level search product that screens the sanction, exclusion, debarment, and disciplinary history of individuals used by the healthcare and other regulated industries. Includes hundreds of US and International government watch lists which include OFAC, SAM, FinCEN, FBI Most Wanted, Interpol, OIG, State Licensing, State OIG, US Department of State and many more.

Statewide Criminal Search

The Statewide Criminal Records search is a search of a state repository for Felony and Misdemeanor information. While most states do have a repository, some of them are incomplete or offer limited access. For this reason we only offer Statewide Criminal Records searches where we have confidence that the information is complete, reliable and meets stringent FCRA requirements.

Professional License Verification

The Professional License Verification can be a critical piece of a screening program. Our teams can confirm that the individuals license is of the type and current status they claim it to be. Types of licenses verified include medical doctors (MD or DO), registered nurses (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), certified public accountant (CPA) and lawyers, as well as teachers, engineers, pilots and more.

National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB)

The National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) is a web-based repository of reports containing information on medical malpractice payments and certain adverse actions related to health care practitioners, providers, and suppliers. Established by Congress in 1986, it is a workforce tool that prevents practitioners from moving state-to-state without disclosure or discovery of previous damaging performance.

County Criminal Search

Our County Criminal Records search for Felony and Misdemeanor criminal records as well as the current and/or final status of each individual case. These searches are based on residence, but can also be searched based upon an individual's employment or education history.

The Employment Purpose Credit Report, where allowed by law, gives employers a modified view of an individual's credit information. This information can help employers make the best, most objective hiring decision for sensitive positions where individuals have access to financial, personal or other secure information.

A Federal Civil Records search is often used to supplement the county civil records search and is generally used in screening for senior and executive-level positions. We searches for all 94 federal districts throughout the United States.

Personal Verification

Personal Reference Verifications collect information about the type and length of the individual’s relationship to the reference. We ask a series of open ended questions to gather information about a person’s traits, character, reliability, and any shortcomings.

Credit Report - Business

Business Credit product offers an objective, accurate business credit report that provides access to critical information needed for making informed financial business decisions about whom you do business with and at what risk.

Civil County Search

County Civil Records can be used to see if an individual has been involved in a lawsuit or if a business or potential vendor has a history of performance troubles. County Civil Records can uncover lawsuits, breach of contract, paternity suits, restraining orders and more.

Drug Testing/Occupational Health

We offer both in-network (Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics) and out-of-network drug screening and physicals.

Our Story.

AssureHire co-founders and distinguished software engineers, Troy Kruthoff and Rob Bagley, created the first online background service in 1997. At that time, only 25% of employeers were screening applicants and the technology of choice was the fax machine! In the following decade, they continued to innovate and invented most of the features that have now become standard features of modern screening systems, including: automated jurisdiction discovery, managed compliance, managed adjudication, report coloring and wording ("clear" or "consider") and much more.

In 2016, Rob and Troy returned to the screening industry to innovate the next generation of background screening in a mobile centric environment. Most background checks today are initiated with an email to the applicant, introducing new approaches to user experiences, identity management, data validation, compliance and customer service. AssureHire is now innovating and implementing background screening features that will become defacto-standards for decades to come.
